IT'S A LIVING: TCF Robber Hits His Third Bank In 8 Days

He did it again. Again.

A serial bank robber who made his debut at the TCF bank inside of Boystown’s Jewel-Osco store last Sunday struck again this morning at the TCF bank inside of the Jewel-Osco store at 2940 N. Ashland.

On Friday, he robbed the TCF bank inside of the Jewel-Osco at 4355 N. Sheridan on Friday.

After passing a note to the teller at 9:43 this morning, the robber fled with about $1,200 in cash. He was last seen heading south toward Ashland.

No weapon was displayed. No dye pack was given.

A witness from this morning's robbery says the offender may have a blackened left eye.

The FBI, which has positively connected today's incident with the two earlier cases, describes the offender as male, Hispanic, 5'9" to 6' tall, slim build, late 20's to early 30's. He sported facial hair in his first hold-up, but has since shaved that off.

This surveillance photo is from today's hold-up. Images from the Boystown robbery are posted HERE.

  1. One robbery was committed by a guy apparently 5'11" tall and the other by someone under 5'5"... If the heights are true, this isn't the same perp...

    1. The FBI has connected the three. The accuracy of witnesses' recollections can be affected by their humanness.

  2. Don't real banks tell you to remove headgear and hoods before entering? Isn't that possible with these services? Also, couldn't they spurge on another camera that looks right at people rather than from above?

    1. So, you think Jewel is goign to ask every patron who comes in to take off their headgear during winter in Chicago?

  3. Aren't there guards near the front door?....at this point I would think every TCF bank would have one just waiting....kinda pathetic at this point.......a hoodie and a scrap of paper...okay.

    1. These are branches located inside of Jewel food stores so no there are no guards. And many banks have no guards as they see it as a waste of $

    2. As of Sunday, the TCF on Montrose had a rent-a-guard standing there.

  4. Can someone please print a couple color copies of this photo and bring along with some scotch tape to each TCF branch in our hood so these poor people can be aware of a thug in a hood coming through? Good grief.

At least it looks like he's clean shaven in this one. He must have made enough at the last robbery to buy some shaving cream.

  5. TCF needs to be held accountable also. The employees deserve better. They aren't hiring extra security and this guy is going to keep hitting TCF banks specifically until his luck runs out & he is caught.

    1. I'm sure they have it figured right down to the nickel that hiring a security guard (what can they do anyway?) vs just handing over the cash isn't cost effective. They need a protective shield between the teller and the customer (I'm not going to call it bullet proof glass because those in denial get their panties all bunched up but wait til the day when they come up short with a few $100 bills for these "robbers").

  6. Another great advertisement for putting your money in TCF Bank. Easy deposits for customers and VERY EASY to withdraw for criminals. That's where I want my money to come and go . . .

I was in my car on Ashland at Barry when the cops were responding to this!
I think every cop in the district was there. At least 6 police cars flew by me at very high speeds.
Because I'm a regular reader of this website, my first thought, when I saw them enter the Jewel parking lot was "I bet the TCF got robbed". Yep, nailed it.

  8. TCF has always been a prime target bank to hit. The number of Jewel shoppers help makes the robber blend in.

  9. It appears to be so easy to rob a TCF...why would he stop?

  10. Just asking. . . is this a good idea to report how much $ was stolen?

  11. I will almost feel sorry for the POS when he/she/they finally get caught. That's going to be some serious jail time for, what, a couple thousand bucks? Go big or go home, lol!

  13. Robbing a bank always seemed to be a high risk low reward proposition to me. It's only a matter of time before he's arrested and spends years in jail for a few thousand bucks.

    1. Have they caught the woman that has gotten away with it 3 or 4 times wearing the same ensemble yet? Supposedly the FBI is on this. What are they waiting for? For her to park illegally? Smoke a cigarette within 6 feet of a door?

  14. I'm at the Jewel on Southport all the time (multiple times a week), and the TCF branch in this location has been closed the past few times I've gone grocery shopping at various times of the day/evening, week/weekend. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it in response to the recent robberies?
